The Road Ahead: Sunsetting 1.7 Plans and Introducing the Vision for Hariku 2.0

Posted by Raf ♾ on September 11, 2025

Hello everyone,
Raf here.
This is a different kind of update. It’s not about a new feature, but about the future of the entire Hariku platform. After the recent releases of 1.6.1 and 1.6.2, I’ve been doing a lot of deep, critical thinking about where we go from here.
I had initially laid out a roadmap for version 1.7.0, focused on adding new refinements to the existing application. However, after countless hours of tinkering, trial and error, deep frustration, and moments of burnout trying to build upon the current architecture, I hit a wall. I tried and failed again, and in that process, I realized a fundamental truth: the current foundation has reached its limit. To build the future we envision, we can't just add another floor; we have to rebuild the foundation.
Therefore, I am officially sunsetting the roadmap for 1.7.0. Instead, I am thrilled to announce that development is now fully focused on a far more ambitious and necessary evolution: Hariku 2.0.
What is Hariku 2.0? A Fundamental Re-architecture
Hariku 2.0 is a massive major update. It involves rewriting significant portions of code across many critical files, a process guided by hours of brainstorming with AI to find the most robust and scalable solutions. The goal is to transform Hariku from a monolithic application into a truly modular and open platform, making it significantly easier for other developers to contribute in the future.
The core principle of Hariku 2.0 is to make the application lightweight. I have heard your feedback about the application becoming overwhelming with its vast number of features. The new architecture solves this directly by adopting a plugin-based system, inspired by powerful and extensible applications like NVDA.
This new architecture will consist of:
Hariku Core: By default, Hariku will be a lean, fast, and stable application focused on its essential functionalities: the calendar and notes system.
Plugins: All complex features, Routines, Period Tracker, AI Mood Summary, Weather, and more, will be extracted into optional add-ons. You will be able to download and install only the features you need via a built-in Add-on Store, keeping the application perfectly tailored to your workflow.
This Isn't a Dream. It's Happening Now.
I want to be clear: I am not writing this as a distant hallucination or an attempt to make the application seem cool. I am writing this after proving the concept works.
Minutes before posting this article, I successfully ran the first sample add-on on the new architecture. This test validated that all the foundational components, the CoreAPI, the Plugin Manager, the dynamic menu registration, and the extensible settings panels, are functional. As you read this, I am likely still tinkering with the code, refining it to adhere to the software engineering principle of being "closed for modification, but open for extension."
Your Support is Crucial
Hariku 2.0 is an active, ongoing development effort. I am incredibly excited about its potential, and I hope I can count on the support of you, the user of Hariku, during this transition. One of the most valuable ways you can help is by continuing to use the current public version (1.6.2). By using it and providing feedback, you help ensure the existing platform remains stable while I build its successor.
I don't have a release date for Hariku 2.0 yet, but I am working diligently to make it a reality. Please wish me luck, so that we can soon welcome a new era where brilliant developers from our community can build their own plugins, or even help me make the core system more incredible than ever before.
Thank you for being part of this journey.
Yours,
Raf

Hotfix 1.6.2: Laying the Groundwork for Our Future

Posted by Raf ♾ on September 9, 2025

Hello everyone,
Raf here.
Just a short while ago, I shared with you my vision for Hariku 1.7.0, a future focused on refinement, stability, and accessibility. Today, we're taking the first, and perhaps most critical, step on that road with the release of version 1.6.2.
This is a maintenance patch, but it's an important one. It's about "paying off technical debt," just as I mentioned in my roadmap. Before we can build new community features or a living language system, we must ensure the very foundation of the app is rock-solid. And that foundation includes a reliable way for you to receive these future updates.
For too long, many of you have fought a frustrating battle with Windows Defender and other antivirus software that mistakenly flagged Hariku's updater. I want to give a massive shout-out and my sincere thanks to Charity Gwyne, Claudya Fritsca, and all the other users who patiently reported this issue. Your feedback made it clear that fixing this wasn't just a minor tweak; it was a prerequisite for any future progress.
So, here's what this patch delivers:
A Completely Rebuilt Update System
I've thrown out the old updater and recoded the entire system from scratch. While I won't bore you with the technical details, the new process has been designed to be far more transparent and cooperative with modern security software. I hope this finally puts an end to the "evil Defender" problem, ensuring that you receive future updates smoothly and without interference.
What Does This Mean for You?
A Seamless Experience: You don't need to do anything differently. Just run Hariku.exe as you always have. The new, smarter update check now happens behind the scenes, called directly by the main application when needed.
A Note on Application Size: One of the trade-offs for this more robust system is a slight increase in the overall application size. This was a necessary step to bundle the components needed for this new, more reliable update process.
The Path is Clear for 1.7.0: With this foundational fix in place, the path to building the features I outlined in "The Road to 1.7.0", like routine templates and a better feedback system, is now much clearer.
This update isn't flashy, but it's essential. It's about ensuring the connection between us remains strong, so that when the exciting new features of 1.7.0 are ready, they can get to you without a fight.
Thank you for your patience and for being a part of this journey of constant improvement.
Yours,
Raf

The Road to 1.7.0: A Vision for a Smarter, Simpler Hariku

Posted by Raf ♾ on September 8, 2025

Hello everyone,
Raf here.
Now that the 1.6.1 hotfix is out, I've been spending a lot of time thinking, not just about the next feature, but about the very soul of Hariku. I want to share a transparent look at that thought process and lay out the roadmap for our next major milestone, version 1.7.0. While I don't have a release date to announce, I want you to know the direction we're headed, because you are a crucial part of this journey.
First, I want to talk about the challenge of being a semi-solo developer. It's a unique position where I have to constantly switch between two mindsets: the developer, who thinks in logic, code, and systems; and the user, who thinks in feelings, flow, and daily needs. Honestly, navigating these two perspectives is incredibly difficult and, at times, confusing. It often leads me into a whirlwind of "what-ifs" and analysis, spending countless hours debating the best path forward instead of actually writing code. It's a frustrating cycle of wanting to build the perfect thing, but being unsure of what "perfect" truly means for you.
This is where you come in. Your feedback isn't just helpful; it's my compass. It cuts through the confusion and provides the clarity I need to move forward with confidence. Thinking about a system alone is a guessing game; building it with your insights is a collaboration.
With that in mind, the guiding theme for Hariku 1.7.0 is Refinement, Stability, and Accessibility. This update will be less about revolutionary new features and more about evolving what we already have into something truly exceptional, stable, and easy for anyone to pick up and love.
Here is a more detailed look at the core pillars of the 1.7.0 roadmap:
1. Polishing the Foundation: A Faster, More Reliable Core
Hariku has grown tremendously, and like any rapidly growing structure, some of its older foundations need reinforcement.
Supercharging the Feedback Loop: Your feedback is vital, so I'm making it a priority to improve how you submit it and how I process it. I'll be completely overhauling the feedback system to be more interactive and detailed. You'll be able to categorize your input (Bug Report, Feature Request, etc.) and, for bugs, provide crucial details like severity. This ensures your most critical reports get seen first and your brilliant ideas are never lost in the shuffle.
Modernizing Legacy Systems: I'll be dedicating significant time to "paying off technical debt." This means rewriting and optimizing older parts of the application to ensure they are as efficient and stable as the newer systems. The goal is a faster, more responsive experience where every feature, old and new, works in perfect harmony.
2. A Living Language System
Currently, adding new languages or updating translations requires a full application update. This is slow and inefficient. For 1.7.0, I plan to completely decouple the language system from the main app. Imagine a world where language packs have their own update system. This would allow for rapid translation updates and, in the future, could even open the door for community contributions to bring Hariku to more people around the globe.
3. The Future of Routines: Community, Templates, and Simplicity
The Routines system is one of Hariku's most powerful features, but I know that starting from a blank slate can be intimidating. I want to change that.
Routine Templates: My vision is to introduce a library of pre-built routine templates. Instead of building from scratch, you could simply select a template like "Productive Morning," "Digital Detox," or "Evening Wind-Down" and customize it to your liking.
Community Sharing: This is a bigger, more ambitious idea that might extend beyond 1.7.0, but the groundwork will start here. I'm exploring a system that would allow you to share your own custom routines with other Hariku users, and import routines that others have created. If you’ve built the perfect workflow, why not share it with the community?
I truly believe Hariku has become more than just a calendar; it's a powerful life companion. But with great power comes the risk of being overwhelming. My core focus for 1.7.0 is to tame that power, to make it intuitive and accessible, ensuring that even a brand-new user can feel its benefits from the very first day.
I don't know when 1.7.0 will be ready, but I promise to prioritize quality and thoughtful design over a rushed release. Your continued feedback during this development phase will be more valuable than ever. Please, keep sharing your thoughts, your frustrations, and your dreams for what Hariku can become.
Yours,
Raf

1.6.1: A Quick and Important Fix for the Period Tracker

Posted by Raf ♾ on September 8, 2025

Hello everyone,
Raf here.
This is a quick but very important update to address the issues I introduced in the last major release. My sincerest apologies again to everyone who relies on the Period Tracker. I know that breaking its core predictive features was a significant failure, and I've worked to correct this as quickly as possible.
Thank you for your patience and for the bug reports that helped me pinpoint these issues. This hotfix, version 1.6.1, is dedicated entirely to restoring the functionality you depend on.
Here’s a simple breakdown of what’s fixed:
1. Predictive Features are Back Online!
The primary bug that caused the predictive engine to fail has been squashed. This means:
Future Prediction View: The predictive view in the tracker dialog (Shift+P, then Tab) is fully functional again, showing your estimated cycle dates for the upcoming months.
Proactive Notifications: The new notification system for upcoming periods should now work as intended, giving you a timely heads-up.
2. Prediction Table Navigation Restored
In fixing the data issue, I also discovered and corrected a bug that broke the arrow key navigation within the Future Prediction table. You can now navigate the grid of future predictions smoothly, just as you can with the history view.
I want to reiterate that the bug in 1.6.0 was limited to the predictive display functions only. Your underlying, historical cycle data was never at risk and has remained safe and intact throughout.
Thank you again for sticking with Hariku. I hope this update restores your confidence in the app as a reliable companion.
Yours,
Raf

Urgent Update Regarding the Period Tracker in Version 1.6.0

Posted by Raf ♾ on September 5, 2025

Hello everyone,
Raf here.
I'm writing to you today with a sincere and necessary apology. In my excitement to launch the new features in version 1.6.0, I overlooked a critical detail and, in doing so, broke several important predictive functions within the Period Tracker.
There is no excuse for this. I know how many of you depend on this feature for its reliability and foresight, and I failed to deliver on that promise in the latest update. For the disruption and any confusion this has caused, I am truly sorry.
My first priority is to be completely transparent with you about what is happening.
A Transparent Look at What's Broken
The core issue stems from the significant changes made to the calendar and scheduling systems. As a result, the following predictive features are currently not working as intended:
1. No Future Predictions: The forward-looking "Prediction View" in the tracker dashboard (Shift+P, then Tab) is currently non-functional.
2. No Daily Snapshot Announcements: The daily snapshot will not announce your upcoming predicted period.
3. Proactive Notifications Likely Disabled: The new proactive notifications, which alert you before your period, are almost certainly not working due to the same root cause.
What Is Safe? (Please Don't Worry)
I want to emphatically reassure you on this point: Your historical data is completely safe. This bug only affects the predictive and notification elements of the tracker.
Logging is Unaffected: You can still log your period start and end dates with the 'P' key as you always have.
Past Cycle Analysis is Accurate: All your past cycle data, including length, status analysis and fertile window Prediction , remains correct and accessible.
Other 1.6.0 Features are Stable: Based on all current reports, other new features like the AI Mood Summary, Weather, and Multi-Mode Calendar are functioning correctly.
My Commitment to a Fix
To be fully transparent, I have not yet had the chance to dive into the source code to pinpoint the exact line of error. However, the symptoms are clear, and I know where to start looking.
Fixing this is now my single highest priority.
I apologize that I cannot push an immediate fix today due to some personal matters that require my attention. However, I am setting a firm public deadline for myself: I promise to release a hotfix, version 1.6.1, on or before the 7th of September. You should see an update available for download by that date at the latest. I will begin work on this patch in the very near future.
Thank you for your incredible patience and for holding me accountable. I will work diligently to restore the functionality you rely on and to regain your trust.
Yours,
Raf

Hariku 1.6.0: The Proactive Companion - AI Insights, Smart Briefings & Your World, Your Weather

Posted by Raf ♾ on August 23, 2025

Hello everyone,
Raf here. First and foremost, I want to extend my deepest apologies for the long silence over these past couple of months. I wish I could say I was on a secret mission involving laser-eyed cats, but the truth is far more mundane: I got completely lost building a new text-based game. In my creative whirlwind, I unintentionally let Hariku, a project I deeply care about, gather a bit of digital dust. I know many of you rely on this app, and for that neglect, I am truly sorry.
The irony isn't lost on me that I probably should have been using Hariku to manage my own projects!
But I hope this update makes up for the wait. Version 1.6.0 isn't just a minor tweak; it's a significant leap forward in making Hariku a truly proactive and intelligent companion that understands, anticipates, and adapts to your world.
Here's a very detailed look at what's new in this very special update:
1. Introducing the AI-Powered Monthly Mood Summary!
This is the feature I'm most excited to share. We're moving beyond just logging moods to truly understanding them, together.
Fully Automated AI Analysis: Remember the old manual mood summaries? They're gone. Now, at the start of each new month, Hariku's new AI engine will proactively and automatically analyze your mood data from the month that just passed. You'll receive a friendly notification letting you know your personal summary is ready.
A Personal Narrative, Not Just Data: This isn't a cold list of numbers. The AI, acting as your personal companion, crafts a warm, insightful story about your emotional journey. It compares your moods to the previous relevant month, identifies meaningful trends (like, "It seems your stress levels decreased significantly in August, great job!"), and offers an encouraging perspective. It even addresses you by your username for that very, very personal touch.
Privacy First, Always: Your trust is paramount. Only anonymized, aggregated mood counts (e.g., "Happy: 10 days") are sent for analysis. Your private, detailed diary notes never, ever leave your device.
Intelligent Catch-Up System: If you've been away for a few months, Hariku has your back. It will intelligently process one past month's summary per day you open the app, allowing you to catch up on your emotional journey without overwhelming the system or your API limits.
Access: Simply press 'O' anytime to open the dialog and view your most recent summary.
2. The Daily & Nightly Snapshot: Your Personal Briefing (Hotkey: W)
Get the most important information for your day with a single keystroke. This feature is even context-aware.
Your Morning & Afternoon Briefing: Press 'W' anytime before the evening, and Hariku gives you a verbal snapshot of today. It will tell you the current weather, summarize your scheduled reminders, and highlight any upcoming personal events or public holidays.
Your Evening Wind-Down & Prep: Press 'W' in the evening, and the snapshot intelligently shifts its focus. Hariku will brief you on tomorrow's forecast and agenda, helping you prepare your mind for the day ahead.
Proactive Alerts: The snapshot doesn't just look at today or tomorrow. It will give you a friendly heads-up about your personal events and upcoming public holidays, ensuring nothing important catches you by surprise.
3. Your World, Your Weather: New City Setting
To make the Daily Snapshot's weather reports truly relevant, we've added a crucial new setting.
Set Your City: In the "General" tab of the Settings dialog (Hotkey: S), you will now find a field to enter your Weather City.
Hyper-Local Accuracy: By providing your city, Hariku can fetch weather data that is specific to your location, not just your country's capital. For example, typing "Batam" will now give you the weather for Batam, Indonesia, not Jakarta. This is essential if you want the weather check to be genuinely useful. If left blank, the feature will be disabled, giving you full control.
4. Proactive Period Tracker Notifications
This fantastic idea comes from a suggestion by Claudya Fritsca. If you find this feature helpful, be sure to send a shout-out to Claudya for her brilliant insight!
Opt-In Notifications: In the "General" tab of Settings, you can now enable "Proactive period tracker notifications." This feature is off by default to respect everyone's privacy and preferences.
Upcoming Period Alerts: When enabled, Hariku will send you a gentle notification 1 or 2 days before your next period is predicted to start, helping you stay prepared.
End-of-Period Reminders: On day 4 or 5 of an active period, Hariku will send a friendly reminder: "Hi [Name], just checking in. If your period has finished, don't forget to log the end date!" This helps ensure your data stays accurate for future predictions.
5. Multi-Mode Calendar Views: See the Bigger Picture (Hotkey: X)
Your calendar is no longer limited to a single day. Press the 'X' key to cycle between three powerful, fully accessible views:
Daily View (Default): The classic, detailed view you know and love.
Weekly View: See your entire week at a glance. Navigate with the arrow keys to hear a summary of events for each day, helping you plan your week more effectively.
Yearly View: Get a bird's-eye view of your entire year. Navigate month by month to hear a summary of events and holidays, perfect for long-term planning.
A Quick Note on Navigation Changes:
Introducing these new views required a significant overhaul of the navigation logic. I've tested it extensively, but if you find any of the controls feel strange or broken, please let me know. Your feedback is invaluable. You can submit it easily through the Help menu or by pressing 'B'.
What's Next?
I can't promise another update in the immediate future. However, I absolutely promise to monitor for any critical errors that arise from this significant update and address them promptly. My commitment to Hariku and to you, remains as strong as ever.
I truly hope you love the new, smarter, and more proactive features in 1.6.0. Thank you for your incredible patience and for sticking with Hariku.
Yours,
Raf

Houston, We Have a... Distracted Developer (A Hariku Update)

Posted by Raf on August 6, 2025

Hi Hariku users,
Raf here. I’m writing this to offer my sincere apologies for the radio silence over the past month. I wish I had a cooler excuse, but the truth is I fell down the deep, dark rabbit hole of developing a new text-based game. In my creative frenzy, I unintentionally let my other projects, especially Hariku, gather some dust.
I actually have a potential update ready to go, but I’ve been holding it back because, frankly, it doesn't feel "wow" enough. I want the next feature to be something genuinely awesome, not just another minor tweak.
Full disclosure: I’ve been so out of the loop that I just realized people have been requesting API access for Hariku, and I haven't approved them in ages. Yeah, I know. That's on me, and it's pretty terrible. The irony is not lost on me that I probably need to start using Hariku myself to manage my time and get my priorities straight.
While I brainstorm for Hariku's next big thing, I will continue building the game. On the bright side, this distraction has been quite productive, the main Hariku app has been stable with no critical bugs, and the platform itself is running smoothly.
And because my brain apparently can't focus on just two things, I'm also designing an e-learning course for basic Python. I'm not claiming to be some Python wizard who knows all the secrets of the universe, but I'm confident I can share enough to help people get started and build amazing things.
On a more personal note, I’m waiting for an admission decision from a university here in Indonesia. Please send some good vibes my way; I'd really appreciate it!
So, what's next for Hariku? I promise you, the next update will be worth the wait. My commitment is to bring something that makes using Hariku an even more incredible part of your day.
Lastly, if you're a fellow geek and want to check out the game I've been obsessing over, connect your telnet client (VIPMUD, MUSH-Z, TinTin++, Mudlet, etc.) to:
Host: techlabs.lol
Port: 4000
It's still an alpha project, meaning things are raw, buggy, and bound to change. All feedback is incredibly valuable!
And if you're curious about the e-learning platform, you can peek at it here:
https://techlabs.lol/
There are only about 15 basic topics for now, but I'll be updating it. I won't promise daily, but I'll aim for at least weekly or monthly updates, tops.
Again, I am truly sorry for neglecting you all, the users of the Hariku app and platform. Thank you for sticking with me despite the silence.
Yours,
Raf

Hariku Now Has an Official NVDA Add-on!

Posted by Raf ♾ on July 13, 2025

Hello again, Hariku Community!
Rafli here, and it feels incredibly good to be writing to you all again. A lot has happened since my last update. For starters, the universe decided my ear and neck needed an unscheduled, extended vacation from my keyboard. The good news? The trip is over, the pesky health gremlins have been evicted, and I’m back with renewed energy and some exciting developments.
First and foremost, thank you. Your patience and understanding during my absence meant the world. The journey back to health was a bit of a marathon, but we’ve crossed the finish line, and I’m thrilled to put all that "unpleasantness" firmly in the rearview mirror.
Now, let's talk about the fun stuff.
Introducing the Official Hariku NVDA Add-on!
While my desktop application (Hariku), is built from the ground up for keyboard and screen reader users, I've always dreamed of making its core features even more integrated into the daily workflow of the visually impaired community. Today, we're taking a massive step in that direction.
I’m incredibly proud to announce the very first version of the Hariku NVDA Add-on!
You can now bring a little piece of Hariku directly into your NVDA experience, no matter what you're doing on your computer.
What Can It Do Right Now?
This is version 1.0, our humble but mighty starting point. We've focused on delivering two of the most-loved features from the Hariku ecosystem, available with simple keyboard shortcuts:
1. A Dose of Inspiration (NVDA+Alt+Q): Feeling stuck on a task? Need a little push? Hit the shortcut to get a random motivational quote delivered straight to your ears. It’s like having a pocket-sized cheerleader, but quieter and less likely to spill Gatorade on your desk.
2. What's Happening Today? (NVDA+Alt+H): Instantly fetch today’s holidays and special events for your selected country.
A quick heads-up on this one: Right now, this feature connects exclusively to our own curated Hariku API, which means it will announce public holidays and significant national events. Your personal events from the desktop app, or appointments from other services, aren't included just yet. Integrating your personal schedule is high on our list for future updates!
But in the meantime, it’s the perfect way to know if it's a public holiday or just a "nobody wants to work" kind of Tuesday.
How Does It Work?
It’s simple! The add-on connects directly to the same robust Hariku API that powers our main application. All you need is your free API key from your Hariku dashboard. Once configured in the NVDA settings, you're good to go.
Download the Hariku NVDA Add-on Here: https://www.techlabs.lol/hariku/addon/Hariku-1.0.nvda-addon
A Quick Note on Expectations:
Now, before your imagination runs wild with possibilities, I want to be crystal clear about the role of this add-on. The Hariku NVDA add-on is designed to be a lightweight companion to the full desktop application, not a replacement for it.
We don't expect it to ever have the same vast feature set as the main app. Powerful, complex systems like Routines, the encrypted Diary, Task Management, and the Period Tracker require a level of system access and a dedicated interface that go beyond what an NVDA add-on is built for.
Think of it this way:
The Hariku Desktop App is your full-featured command center for deep organization.
The Hariku NVDA Add-on is your quick-access toolkit for on-the-fly information and inspiration.
While we are committed to regularly updating the add-on with new and useful features, our development will always be guided by the capabilities of our team and the inherent scope of the NVDA add-on framework.
This is Just the Beginning (We Promise!)
With that said, this is just the first brick in a much larger building. We're treating this add-on with the same commitment as the main application: it will receive regular updates. Our roadmap is ambitious, and here's a sneak peek at what we're planning:
On-Demand Weather Forecasts: A quick shortcut to know if you need that umbrella.
Simple Automation: A lightweight routine-like feature for quick, context-aware actions. While it won't be the powerhouse automation engine from the desktop app, imagine being able to create simple shortcuts to get information or perform a quick task directly within NVDA.
An Intuitive Calendar (The Dream): This one is on our long-term wishlist. We are exploring the possibility of bringing a lightweight, browsable calendar directly into NVDA. Just maybe. Imagine quickly checking events for next week without ever leaving your document. It's a complex challenge, but one we're excited to investigate.
And, of course, a few more surprises we're keeping under wraps.
My goal has always been to build tools that are not just functional but also delightful to use. This NVDA add-on is a direct extension of that mission, bringing key information and a bit of joy seamlessly into the background of your digital life.
Thank you once again for being part of this journey. It’s great to be back in the driver's seat, and I can't wait to show you what's next.
Go ahead, give the add-on a try, and let a random quote surprise you today.
All the best,
Rafli

A Bittersweet Milestone: The Hariku API is LIVE, and It's Time for My Much-Needed Rest.

Posted by Raf ♾ on July 8, 2025

Hello Hariku Community,
Rafli here. Today, I’m writing to you with two very different but equally important pieces of news. One is a celebration of a massive achievement for our platform, and the other is a personal note about the journey to get here.
First, the exciting part: After an incredibly intense and rewarding development marathon, I am thrilled to announce that the Hariku API Platform is officially complete, stable, and open for everyone!
This has been my singular focus, driven by the vision of transforming Hariku from a self-contained application into a living, breathing ecosystem. The robust backend is live, the interactive documentation is published, and the keys to our entire database of quotes and multi-country calendar events are now available to all of you.
What This Unlocks for Developers and Creators
This isn't just an update; it's an invitation. I've built this API so that you can take the data we've all collected and use it as a creative building block. The possibilities are truly endless:
For Web Developers: Build a "Quote of the Day" widget for your personal blog, or create a dynamic "Upcoming Holidays" section for a community website. You can fetch events by day, week, month, or year for any supported country.
For Bot Creators: Program a Discord or Slack bot that announces, "On This Day in [Country] history..." every morning, pulling data directly from our history fields.
For App Developers: Create a niche mobile application, like a minimalist holiday countdown timer or a motivational app that displays a new quote with every launch.
For Hobbyists and Scripters: Write a simple Python script to display a new inspiring message on your desktop, or create a custom tool to track holidays across different countries you care about.
The power is now in your hands. This platform is designed to be the data source I always wished I had when starting new projects.
A Call for Global Contributors: Help Us Grow!
The foundation is built, but a library is only as great as the books on its shelves. Currently, our most comprehensive calendar and historical data is for Indonesia (ID).
While we support API calls for other countries like the PH, US, GB, JP, and more, the data for these regions is still sparse. This is where you come in.
We are now relying on our global community to help us populate the database for all supported countries. If you know of a national holiday, a cultural celebration, a memorial day, or any significant event in your country, we invite you to be the one to add it. Your contribution will make this API a richer and more valuable resource for developers all around the world.
Contribute an Event or Quote: "https://www.techlabs.lol/hariku/submit.php"
A Note on API Tiers and My Vision for the Future
My ultimate goal is to build Hariku into a sustainable, long-term service. To be completely transparent, this means that eventually, high-volume API access will be a paid feature.
However, I am also a firm believer in supporting the developer community, especially our early adopters. Our database is still growing, and I want you to build amazing things with it without barriers.
Therefore, for the time being, I am making the Pro tier available for free upon request.
Free Tier (Default): When you sign up, your account is automatically on the Free tier. This gives you a generous number of API requests per month, which is perfect for personal projects, testing, and small-scale applications.
Pro Tier (By Request): This tier offers unlimited API requests. It is designed for applications that expect higher traffic or need unrestricted access.
How to Request a Free Pro Tier Upgrade:
If you are building a project that you anticipate will need unlimited access, please reach out to me. I would be happy to upgrade your account to the Pro tier, free of charge, for the foreseeable future.
To request an upgrade, please send me an email at rafli08523717409@gmail.com or use the Feedback Form in the desktop application. Please include the following information:
A brief introduction of who you are.
A short description of what you plan to build with the Hariku API.
The username or email address associated with your Hariku account.
I am genuinely excited to see what you create, and I'm happy to provide the resources to help you do it.
And now, for the more personal and difficult news.
This final push to complete the API has been a non-stop effort. In my passion to deliver this platform to you, I've pushed myself too far, going without sleep for several days. Unfortunately, my body is now forcing me to take a break. I'm currently dealing with some concerning health issues, including significant swelling in my ear and neck, which my doctor has advised requires immediate rest and recovery.
It is with a heavy heart, but with the knowledge that it's absolutely necessary, that I must announce I will be taking a genuine and complete rest for a while.
What This Means for Hariku and Our Community
I will be offline. To properly heal, I need to step away from the keyboard, emails, and development entirely. I won't be responsive during this period, including to Pro tier requests, which I will address as soon as I return.
The Platform is Live and Stable. The API, the website, your dashboards, and the submission forms are all fully operational and will remain online.
The Rest of the Team. While I am the lead on this API project, other members of the Hariku team may still be working on their respective areas. However, please understand that overall development and major updates will be on pause.
Critical Bugs. We have systems in place to monitor the platform's health. If any critical, service-breaking bugs are discovered, the team will be notified and will do their best to address them.
I am immensely proud of what we have built with this API, and I am disappointed that I have to step back right at this exciting moment. However, I must prioritize my health to ensure I can come back strong and continue building the future of Hariku with you all.
Until then, please feel free to explore the new platform.

Version 1.5.0 Was a Beast! Now, For Hariku's Next Great Chapter.

Posted by Raf ♾ on July 7, 2025

Hello Hariku Community,
Rafli here. If you've been enjoying the massive 1.5.0 update, I am absolutely thrilled. Building the fully customizable hotkeys and the entire sound theme system from the ground up was an incredible marathon of coding. It was our most ambitious update yet, and frankly, I'm ready for a very long nap.
But instead of sleeping, I'm doing something that, in the long run, is even more exciting.
With version 1.5.0, I gave you the tools to make the Hariku application feel like your own. You can change its sounds, its shortcuts, its very behavior. Now, I want to give you the tools to use Hariku's soul, its data, in your own projects. To do that, I'm temporarily hanging up my "Application Developer" hat and putting on my "Mad Backend Scientist" lab coat.
Why the change? The Vision for an Open Platform.
For a long time, the core of Hariku; our curated database of quotes, our unique calendar of special events, the deep dives into national and international history, has been a one-way street. Our team worked hard to collect and manage this information, and the only way to experience it was through the Hariku application. This was great, but it was also a limitation. That data is too interesting to be locked away.
So, I am building the future. I am architecting a centralized, powerful backend that will serve as a single source of truth for all this information. But here’s the most exciting part: this backend won’t be just for us. It will be accessible to the world through a public API.
What Does This Mean for Developers (and the Curious)?
It means that the data we've gathered is about to become a creative resource for you. The goal is to empower you to build things we haven't even dreamed of. Imagine:
Pulling a "Quote of the Day" directly onto your personal blog or website with a few lines of code.
Building a Discord or Slack bot that announces "On This Day in History" to your server every morning.
Creating a niche mobile app that visualizes special holidays in a new, creative way.
Writing a simple script to display a new inspiring message on your desktop every time you boot up your computer.
The possibilities are endless. By opening up the data, Hariku transforms from a product you use into a platform you can build upon.
So, What's the Catch? (Managing Expectations)
Building this robust backend is a massive undertaking. Since I'm the lead on many of the app's features, this means that major feature updates to the desktop application will be on pause for a while.
You've got a super-powerful version 1.5.0 to play with, so go wild! Remap every key, make the app sound like a spaceship; it’s all yours to customize. In the meantime, the rest of the team will still be around, and we'll absolutely rush to fix any critical, "the-sky-is-falling" bugs that pop up. But for brand-new features? I'll be in the server mines for a bit, digging for API gold.
The Good News: You Can See the Future Today
This new backend isn't just a secret project. Its first pieces are already live on our website, and I'd love for you to start kicking the tires. This is your first chance to be a part of this new, collaborative direction.
Become a Contributor (Finally!): The doors are now open. For the first time, you can submit your own favorite quotes directly to our database. Your submissions will help our collection grow beyond what our team could ever do alone.
Submit Your Quotes Here: "https://www.techlabs.lol/hariku/submit.php"
First-timer? Create an Account: "https://www.techlabs.lol/hariku/register.php"
Spy on My Work (I encourage it!): Want to see what this future API will look like? I've put up a live, interactive documentation page. It's a bit messy right now (like any good workshop), but it shows you exactly how you'll be able to pull Hariku's data into your own projects.
Check out the API Docs: "https://www.techlabs.lol/hariku/documentation.php"
Version 1.5.0 was about giving you control over the application. This next phase is about giving you control over the data itself. It's a huge step, and I'm incredibly excited to be building it.
Thanks for your amazing support and for understanding my need to switch hats for a while. Let's build something awesome together.
Cheers,
Rafli

Hariku 1.5.0: The Customization Update - Your Calendar, Your Shortcuts, Your Sound.

Posted by Raf ♾ on July 7, 2025

Hello Hariku Users,
We are incredibly proud to announce the release of Hariku version 1.5.0, our most ambitious update yet. This release is built on a single, powerful idea: that your personal calendar should be truly yours. Following the foundational interactive menu in 1.4.0, this update introduces two massive new features that give you unprecedented control over how you interact with and experience the application: a fully configurable hotkey system and a revolutionary new sound theme manager.
This is the biggest leap forward for Hariku to date, transforming it from a powerful tool into a deeply personal and adaptable companion.
1. Total Hotkey Freedom: Your Workflow, Your Rules
While the Main Menu introduced in version 1.4.0 made every feature discoverable, we knew the next step was to let you define your own "speed of thought." The new Hotkey Manager, found in the "Hotkeys" tab in Settings, puts you in complete control.
What's New:
Change Any Shortcut: Every single action in the application, from navigating days (Left Arrow) to checking for updates (U), can now be re-assigned to any key combination you prefer.
Multiple Hotkeys, One Action: Do you want U to check for updates when the app is active, but Ctrl+Shift+U to do it from anywhere in Windows? Now you can. Assign multiple, distinct hotkey combinations to a single action.
Global vs. Local Scope: For any hotkey, you can now define its scope. Set it to "Local" to work only when Hariku is focused, or set it to "Global" to create a powerful, system-wide shortcut that works no matter what you're doing.
Accessible by Design: The new editor is fully accessible. Instead of requiring you to press a key combination, you can now use standard checkboxes for modifiers (Ctrl, Alt, Shift, Win) and a text box for the primary key, making customization intuitive for all users.
This system respects your muscle memory and allows you to tailor Hariku to perfectly match your personal workflow.
2. Introducing Sound Themes: Curate Your Auditory Experience
A calendar tracks the moments of your life; we believe its sounds should match your personal style. With version 1.5.0, we are moving beyond a single set of sounds to a complete, user-customizable Sound Theme system.
How It Works:
Think of a sound theme as a complete "outfit" of sounds for the application. We provide a high-quality "Default" theme, but now you have the power to create your own.
Create & Edit Themes: In the Settings, you can now create a new, blank sound theme.
Customize Sound by Sound: An intuitive Theme Editor allows you to assign a custom sound file for every audible event in Hariku; from a simple "UI Button Click" to the "Error Notification" sound. Simply select the event, click "Browse," and choose any .wav file from your computer.
Intelligent Fallback: You don't have to customize everything. If your custom theme is missing a sound (for example, you didn't assign a "Confirmation" sound), Hariku will automatically and seamlessly play the sound from the "Default" theme. This allows you to change as little or as much as you want.
Easy Sharing: Themes are self-contained, making it easy for users to create and share their sound packs with the community in the future.
This feature transforms the application's feel, allowing you to make it as subtle, vibrant, or unique as you are.
Version 1.5.0 is more than just an update; it's a statement about our philosophy. We are committed to building a calendar that adapts to you, not the other way around. We can't wait for you to experience this new level of personalization.
Thank you for your continued support and for being a part of this journey.

Hariku 1.4.0: A Revolutionary New Menu to help you explore the app easily

Posted by Raf ♾ on July 6, 2025

Hello Hariku Users,
We are excited to introduce Hariku version 1.4.0, an update dedicated to fundamentally improving how you interact with the application. This release is special because it was born directly from a crucial piece of feedback from one of our users, and it is designed to make every feature more discoverable, intuitive, and accessible than ever before.
A New Way to Navigate: The Interactive Main Menu
Previously, accessing Hariku's powerful features relied on knowing specific keyboard shortcuts. While fast for power users, we recognized that this could create a barrier.
This all changed thanks to a thoughtful question from community member Charity Gwyne, who asked: "If I don't know the shortcut, how can I find the feature?"
This simple but profound insight sparked the development of a comprehensive new navigation system: the Main Menu.
How It Works:
Activate with Tab: From the main calendar view, simply press the Tab key to enter Menu Mode.
Navigate Categories: Use the Left and Right arrow keys to switch between categories like "File," "View," "Tools," and "Help." You will hear the name of each category as you switch.
Explore Items: Use the Up and Down arrow keys to navigate the list of actions within the selected category. Each action is clearly announced.
Execute with Enter: Press Enter on any selected item to open its corresponding dialog or perform the action.
Exit Anytime: Press Tab again or Escape to instantly exit Menu Mode and return to the standard calendar navigation.
The Best of Both Worlds: This new system does not replace the existing hotkeys. Instead, it provides a parallel, structured way to access everything Hariku has to offer.
New Users can now easily explore all available features without needing to memorize shortcuts.
Power Users can continue using their favorite hotkeys for maximum speed.
This update is a direct result of community collaboration. We want to extend a special thank you to Charity Gwyne for her invaluable feedback, which has led to a feature that will benefit every Hariku user. This is a perfect example of how your insights help shape the future of the application.
Thank you for being part of our journey. We hope you enjoy this new, more intuitive way to use Hariku.

Hariku 1.3.0: The Intelligent Period Tracker Has Arrived

Posted by Raf ♾ on July 6, 2025

Hello Hariku Users,
We are thrilled to announce the release of Hariku version 1.3.0. This update was expedited to introduce a critical fix for managing personal events and, more excitingly, to unveil a feature that has been highly requested: a smart, insightful, and accessible Period Tracker, fully integrated into your calendar.
A Period Tracker That Truly Understands: We believe a calendar should do more than just track dates; it should understand the natural rhythms of your life. The new Period Tracker is designed to do just that, providing powerful analysis from a minimal amount of data.
How does it work? It is beautifully simple. You only need to provide two pieces of information:
Navigate to the date your period starts and press the letter 'P' to log the start day.
Navigate to the date your period ends and press 'P' again to log the end day.
From just these two inputs over time, Hariku’s analysis engine begins to work its magic. It does not just store dates; it calculates, analyzes, and presents you with a holistic view of your cycle.
When you open the tracker dashboard (Shift+P), you will find a narrative table that tells the story of your cycle, including:
Cycle & Period Length: See at a glance how long your period and your full cycle lasted.
Status Analysis: The tracker intelligently compares each cycle to your personal average. It will tell you if your cycle was "On schedule," "Late by 5 days," or "Early by 3 days." If it detects a significant and consistent deviation, it will even gently suggest that consulting a doctor might be a good idea.
Fertile Window Prediction: For each historical cycle, it calculates your estimated fertile window, helping you understand your body's patterns.
Future Predictions: By pressing the Tab key, you can switch to a predictive view that forecasts your estimated period dates and fertile windows for the next 12 months, making it easier to plan ahead.
This feature transforms Hariku into an even more personal health companion.
Important Fixes & Enhancements
The release of version 1.3.0 was accelerated to address an oversight in our previous update. We apologize that the ability to edit and delete personal events was missing in version 1.2.0. This has now been fully implemented.
Edit & Delete Personal Events: You can now open the "Manage Personal Events" dialog (Shift+E) to easily edit or delete any custom event you have created.
This update reinforces our commitment to building a calendar that is not only powerful but also deeply personal and responsive to your needs. We believe the new Period Tracker is a significant step in that direction.
Thank you for your continued support and valuable feedback. We hope you find these new features insightful and empowering.

Posted by Raf ♾ on July 5, 2025

Hello Hariku Users,
We’re pleased to announce the release of Hariku version 1.2.0, an update focused on making your calendar more personal, responsive, and expressive. This version introduces meaningful new features that let your routines respond to the events that matter most to you.
Personal Events Are Here: You can now create custom personal events directly from the calendar, birthdays, reminders, anniversaries, or one-time dates. Simply press E on any date to open the Personal Event dialog.
Events can be set to:
- Repeat every year (e.g. birthdays)

- Ctrl + Left/Right to jump to the beginning or end of the week
- Home/End to jump to the start or end of the month
This release marks another step forward in Hariku’s evolution—not only as a productivity tool but as a personal companion for the days that matter most to you.
We hope you enjoy version 1.2.0. As always, your feedback helps shape the future of Hariku.

Hariku 1.0.0-RC.1 Has Arrived: Feature-Frozen and Ready for Final Evaluation

Posted by AraPearl 🦋 on June 30, 2025

Dear Hariku Users,
We’re pleased to announce the release of Hariku 1.0.0-RC.1, marking a significant milestone in the project’s development journey.
This Release Candidate represents the end of the feature development phase and the beginning of final polishing and stability assurance. RC.1 focuses on reliability, user experience, and platform consistency; bringing Hariku closer than ever to its production-ready state.
Although no major changes were expected at this stage, a few safe, self-contained improvements were introduced based on user feedback:

Send Notification to Phone: Enables routines to push messages to your mobile device using the ntfy service. Simply install the ntfy app from Playstore or Appstore, and update the server URL in the app settings to https://notify.techlabs.lol for compatibility.
A new startup check to prevent multiple instances of Hariku from running simultaneously. (Still Buggy)
This release also includes general performance improvements, UI polish, accessibility refinements, and bug fixes, all aimed at ensuring Hariku runs smoothly and reliably across environments.
From this point forward, development will focus solely on optimization, refinement, and addressing any remaining issues reported by users.
Thank you for testing, contributing, and helping shape Hariku into the smart automation tool it’s becoming. We look forward to your feedback on RC.1.

RC.1 Release Slightly Delayed

Posted by Administrator on June 29, 2025

We would like to inform you that the release of Hariku version 1.0.0-RC.1, originally planned for June 27, will be slightly delayed.
Most of the feature development and testing have been completed, but the final packaging and deployment process depends on a secured internal environment accessible to only one developer.
Due to a temporary technical limitation, this process has been slowed down. While other contributors are able to compile and validate the build in isolated environments, they cannot perform core release operations.
We are actively working to resolve this and expect RC.1 to be available no later than June 30, 2025.
All previously announced features will still be included in this release, and unless any critical issues arise, the final version (1.0.0) remains on track for release on July 1.
We appreciate your understanding and continued support as we ensure the best possible experience.

Prepares for Release Candidate Status for Hariku

Posted by Raf ♾ on June 26, 2025

After iterative development and feature exploration throughout the beta cycle, Hariku is now preparing to enter a major milestone in its release journey: Release Candidate 1 (RC.1).
Version 1.0.0-RC.1 is scheduled to be released around June 27, 2025. This marks the transition from feature development to final polishing and stability assurance.
RC.1 introduces several important refinements and two new lightweight, self-contained actions:
Send Notification to Phone: Allows routines to push a message directly to your phone using the ntfy service. No login or server-side setup is required.
Simply install the ntfy app from the Play Store or App Store, create and subscribe to a topic of your choice from within the app, and you're ready to receive notifications.
To ensure compatibility with Hariku, you must change the default ntfy server URL in the app’s settings to:
https://notify.techlabs.lol
This step is required for the notification action to work properly with Hariku’s integration.
SmartLookup: Enables context-aware lookups based on clipboard or routine variables. Ideal for quick references, definitions, and IP Address Lookup without manual interaction.
These additions are stable, non-breaking, and have been carefully tested to ensure they do not interfere with existing core features.
Looking Ahead to Hariku 1.0.0: If no critical bugs are reported in RC.1, the final version, Hariku 1.0.0, is planned for release on July 1, 2025.
This will mark Hariku's official transition from experimental beta software to a stable, production-ready automation platform for everyday use.
New: Daily Update Reminder System
Starting from RC.1, Hariku includes a built-in update reminder system, which checks for new versions once per day and displays a simple notification if an update is available. The reminder is designed to be non-intrusive and shown only once per day to avoid distractions.
Thank you for being part of the journey.
We look forward to sharing RC.1 with you and hearing how you put it to work in your routines and workflows.
See you on June 27.

Hariku 1.0.0-Beta.8: Smarter. Stronger. Sharper

Posted by AraPearl🦋 on June 25, 2025

Hello again,
Just when you thought Routines couldn’t get more powerful, here we are with Hariku version 1.0.0-Beta.8, bringing a wave of intelligent upgrades that make your automation journey even smoother and more capable.
This update is all about refinement, flexibility, and power. We’ve introduced new triggers, new actions, and smart logic, allowing your routines to respond more precisely to your digital environment. From global hotkeys and clipboard monitoring, to advanced scheduling and window control, Beta.8 turns your vision of automation into something you can actually live with, every day.
What's New?
One of the biggest additions is Global Hotkey Triggers; now you can run any routine just by pressing a key combination (like Ctrl+Shift+P), system-wide. This essentially gives you custom shortcuts for anything: launching apps, typing phrases, controlling volume, setting work modes—anything routines can do, now at your fingertips.
We also introduced a Run Every condition, enabling recurring routines on a set interval (every X minutes or hours), optionally within a specific time window. Perfect for timed reminders, health breaks, or automated system maintenance.
And for clipboard power users: Clipboard Monitoring lets your routines respond to content copied to the clipboard. like automatically opening copied URLs or searching selected text, Combine it with placeholders like {{clipboard}} to make routines dynamically reactive.
New Actions = New Possibilities
Routines just got even more hands-on. Beta.8 introduces powerful new actions:
Control Window: Minimize, maximize, or close windows programmatically.
Type Text Automatically: Simulates keyboard typing, useful for inserting canned responses or filling forms.
Modify Variable & Set Variable: These open the door to memory and logic. Routines can now remember things, count, and adapt based on previous actions.
Enable/Disable Another Routine: Think of this as switching modes. One routine can now activate or deactivate another, useful for toggling between Work Mode and Chill Mode.
Send Keystrokes to Specific Window: A truly advanced feature. Your routine can now find a specific app and send it keystrokes, perfect for muting Your TeamTalk when it's not focused, for example.
Close Application: Kill background distractions with a single action. (Thanks to Claudya F. for the idea!)
Better Logic. Better Reactions.
With AND/OR logic for conditions, your routines now think more like you. Choose whether all conditions must be met (AND) or just one (OR). This simple change makes your automations much more expressive and powerful.
Also new: placeholder support in more actions! Use {{clipboard}} or {{variable:yourVariableName}} to dynamically reference clipboard content or custom variables in routines like Speak Text, Open URL, and more.
Deep System Awareness
We’ve leveled up Hariku’s sensitivity to what’s happening on your PC:
Application detection now includes checks like has focus or does not have focus.
System usage monitoring (CPU and RAM) now supports thresholds over time, e.g., only act if CPU > 80% for 30 seconds.
Day of the Week condition has evolved into a flexible multi-day scheduler with time ranges.
"Open Application/Command" is more reliable with paths that contain spaces or command-line arguments.
We’ve also re-architected the routine check engine, improving its speed, efficiency, and responsiveness. Routines now run leaner and faster, without missing a beat.
Read the Docs, Get Inspired
This release comes with a significantly updated README covering all the new features in detail. If you’ve ever been curious about how to use variables, placeholders, or system keystroke automation, this is your manual.
For example, you’ll learn how to:
Create a "Smart Paste" hotkey that behaves differently depending on which app is in focus.
Build a "Work Mode" switch that changes power plans, closes distractions, and speaks a focus message.
Set up a Pomodoro timer that tracks your work cycles and gives spoken feedback.
These examples are more than tricks; they’re real-world routines built using the powerful new features introduced in Beta.8.
If you're curious to learn how they work, how to build your own, or want a deeper understanding of actions like Send Keystrokes, Modify Variable, or conditions like Monitor Clipboard and Global Keypress, we’ve documented everything in detail.
You can find the full documentation and examples in the updated README, available on the Hariku website:
https://www.techlabs.lol/hariku/
With this update, Hariku becomes not just a planning tool, but a personal automation platform, one that works how you think, adapts to how you work, and listens to how you live. Whether you're running routines on timers, reacting to clipboard content, or toggling app behavior with a keypress, Hariku gives you the tools to create a digital life that feels more responsive, more human, and just a bit more magical.
We’d love to know how you use these new features. Have you built something clever with our new routines? Do you have ideas for new actions or triggers? Let us know via the feedback form!
Until next time,
Stay creative. Stay curious. And automate with care.

Hariku 1.0.0-Beta.7: From Dream to Routine

Posted by AraPearl 🦋 on June 22, 2025

Hello Everyone,
This is it! the moment we’ve been building up to for weeks.
Hariku version 1.0.0-Beta.7 finally introduces Routines, the long-promised feature we’ve been talking about since Beta.1. It’s been teased, requested, wildly imagined; and now, it’s real.
Routines is more than just another feature. It’s a step into something bigger: letting Hariku not only help you plan your day, but also act for you.
What are Routines?
Think of them as smart rules that let Hariku act on your behalf. Inspired by Android's Routines and iOS Shortcuts, this feature allows you to automate actions based on specific conditions, saving time, reducing repetition, and adding a little magic to your everyday tasks.
Here’s a quick overview of what you can do:
Trigger actions based on time, battery level, charging status, WiFi network, running apps, and more.
Perform tasks like speaking custom text, showing notifications, opening websites or apps, locking your screen, playing sounds, and even adjusting system volume.
Combine multiple conditions and actions to create powerful, custom workflows that run automatically; no coding required.
You can even add delays between actions to control the flow of your routines more precisely.
This is just the beginning. We’re already planning to expand this feature further with more conditions, smarter controls, and additional system-level integrations.
It may look like a small update, but trust us; it opens a whole new world of possibilities.
Want the full breakdown? We’ve written a detailed, 3500+ character README that covers all the new options. You can read it on our website:
https://www.techlabs.lol/hariku
We’d love to hear how you use Routines in your day. Got ideas, feedback, or wild automation dreams? Let us know through the feedback form!
Thank you again for being part of Hariku’s thoughtful little world.
Stay inspired; and automate gently. ✨

You asked, we listened. In addition to weekly repetition, you can now set tasks to repeat monthly or yearly, offering greater flexibility for long-term planning.
Mood Selection in Notes
Sometimes, how you feel is just as important as what you write. Now, when editing a note, you can choose a mood that reflects your emotional tone. This lovely idea came from AraPearl and ClaudyaF.
Smoother Time Selection
The time sliders you use when setting tasks have been improved for better precision and a more responsive feel, especially for those who use screenreader as their daily driver.
Expanded Country Support
We're happy to welcome the Philippines to our list of supported regions. The system now works seamlessly in this country; and yes, we were surprised too!
As part of this milestone, we’re currently looking for passionate individuals from the Filipino community to help us fill and enrich our calendar database; just like we’ve done with the Indonesian calendar.
We’re especially looking for people who:
Are familiar with Windows
Know how to write clearly and meaningfully
Are willing to learn our large and growing system
And most importantly, have the patience and heart to input data thoughtfully, one entry at a time.
If this sounds like you, or someone you know, we’d love to hear your story and invite your contribution into Hariku. Together, we can make this app even more alive, inclusive, and meaningful.
To submit your interest, please send us a message through the feedback system using the following format:
Title: your_name, Want_to_Help
Example: rafli, Want_to_Help
Message:
- Your reason for wanting to help
- How you're willing to contribute
- Your contact information (email or other)
We can’t wait to build something beautiful together with you.
This update continues our commitment to building a gentle, thoughtful calendar experience, one that not only helps you stay organized but also understands your pace and personality.
As always, thank you for being a part of Hariku.
Your ideas shape the future of this app, and we’re so grateful for your ongoing support.

from me to you: Hariku's next steps

Posted by alfian on June 10, 2025

Hello Hariku users,
I’m Alfian, and as mentioned in the previous post, I’ve officially joined the Hariku project as a developer. First of all, I’d like to thank Raf for trusting me with this role and giving me the chance to continue what he started.
While Raf takes his well-deserved break, I’ll be handling the ongoing development—this might include maintenance, small improvements, or even trying out new features. Things may move slowly or quickly depending on what’s possible, but I’ll make sure Hariku keeps going in the best way I can.
Your feedback means a lot, so please don’t hesitate to share your thoughts or ideas. I’m excited to be part of this and look forward to building something meaningful together with you all.
Talk to you soon,
– Alfian

The Heart Behind Hariku

Posted by raf ♾ on June 10, 2025

Dear Hariku users,
right now's message is not about new features or technical progress. It’s about acknowledging someone whose presence has been absolutely essential to Hariku; someone who has poured in time, thought, creativity, and quiet strength behind the scenes: AraPearl.
While many know Hariku as a calendar application built by a developer, the truth is, Hariku would not exist in the first place without AraPearl.
Long before a single line of code was written, it was AraPearl who first envisioned the idea of a calendar app, not just any app, but one filled with intention and care. Her thoughts laid the foundation for what would later become this personal space for reflection, planning, and emotional connection.
Throughout every phase of development, she has been there, not in the spotlight, but at the core: guiding brainstorming sessions, offering deeply thoughtful suggestions, helping shape language and clarity through translation, and perhaps most importantly, providing unwavering emotional support when progress was slow, uncertain, or overwhelming.
She doesn't ask for credit, but this project owes her more than just acknowledgment. It owes her its very existence.
Hariku is more than a digital tool. It carries a certain warmth, a soft precision, and a touch of sincerity that reflects her heart and her presence in every detail. Much like a butterfly’s gentle wings that cause quiet transformation, AraPearl’s impact has been subtle, graceful, but immensely powerful.
Her ability to bring calmness in chaos, to question ideas with kindness, and to hold the vision of this project when I was unsure; those things cannot be measured in code or design. They are the invisible architecture of Hariku.
Without her vision, without her passion, and without her deep emotional investment in this project, we would not be here. I would not be writing this. You would not be reading this.
So today, I want to say this as clearly and sincerely as possible:
Thank you, AraPearl.
Thank you for believing in this.
Thank you for building this with me in the ways that matter most.
Thank you for caring.
Hariku is as much yours as it is mine.

Team Update and Welcoming a New Developer During the Transition Period

Posted by AraPearl 🦋 on June 10, 2025

Dear Hariku users,
We would like to share an important update regarding the development of Hariku.
As of now, Hariku is no longer developed by a single individual. In addition to myself, RAF, Alfian has officially joined the project as the second developer. His presence is expected to bring new perspectives and ideas to the app’s future development.
During my current break from active coding, Alfian will take the lead in continuing development efforts, whether through maintenance work, feature experimentation, or general improvements. All development decisions during this period will be entirely at his discretion.
There may be new updates. There may not. That choice is his to make.
I personally expect that he will share his own message in the next post, so users can better understand the direction of Hariku during this transitional phase.
Thank you once again for your continued support. Your feedback and patience are highly appreciated and essential to the growth of this project.
Sincerely,
(Raf, Developer of Hariku)

Developer Update; Preparing for Beta.6 and a Temporary Development Pause

Posted by AraPearl 🦋 on June 9, 2025

Dear Users,
Thank you for continuing to support Hariku. This message is to inform you about an upcoming development shift and provide important updates regarding the app’s progress and known issues.
As the sole developer, Rafli will be taking a short break from coding to focus on gathering new inspiration and exploring ideas that will help Hariku grow further. This pause will allow him to reflect on how the app can evolve; not just as a calendar, but as a personal companion that helps users improve their self-care, stay organized, and feel more connected to their daily lives.
Currently, Hariku offers features such as notes, task reminders, inspirational quotes, and other tools that go beyond what traditional calendars provide. However, we are preparing a new update; version 1.0.0-Beta.6, which will introduce several meaningful improvements:
A more advanced reminder system that can notify you several days in advance of important dates.
A mood tracker, enabling you to log and reflect on your emotional well-being over time.
Additional enhancements and experimental features designed to enrich your experience.
We continue to value your feedback. If you have suggestions or comments, please use the built-in feedback feature by pressing the "B" key in the app. All input is carefully recorded, stored, and reviewed to guide future improvements.
Known Issue: Updater Errors
We are aware of ongoing issues with the built-in updater failing to perform correctly. Resolving this is an active priority, and development is underway to make the updater more reliable. In the meantime, we strongly advise the following:
Back up your personal data, including the data folder and config.ini file, before installing any new updates.
During installation, these files may be overwritten or erased. Manual backups are currently the only way to prevent data loss.
Important Notice for Beta.5 Users
If you are currently using version 1.0.0-Beta.5, please be aware that attempting to update through the app will not result in any changes or new features. It will simply reinstall the same version and, in the process, erase your existing data.
As such, we do not recommend updating if you are already using Beta.5, unless the development team has officially announced the release of Beta.6. Please wait for confirmation via the in-app news panel before proceeding with any update.
Thank you once again for being part of Hariku. Your continued feedback and support are deeply appreciated. This brief development pause is a step toward delivering a more meaningful and refined experience in the near future.
Sincerely,
(Raf, The developer of Hariku)

Update Highlights – Version 1.0.0-Beta.5

Posted by AraPearl 🦋 on June 7, 2025

Hello Everyone,
We’re happy to announce the release of version 1.0.0-Beta.5 — an update designed to make your experience smoother, more secure, and more enjoyable.
This release includes several new features inspired by your feedback and suggestions, aiming to help you organize your days better and protect your personal data.
Here are some highlights from this update:
1. Enhanced Diary Privacy with Password Encryption
Your diary entries are important and personal. Starting with this update, you can now activate password encryption for your diary. This feature is optional and can be turned on or off anytime from the new Settings window. When enabled, your entries will be securely encrypted to keep your thoughts safe from prying eyes.
2. Daily Quotes to Inspire You
To add a little motivation to your day, we’ve introduced a daily quotes feature. Every time you open Hariku or press the 'Y key, you’ll be greeted with a fresh, thoughtful quote. This idea came from one of our valued users, Claudya F, and we’re excited to share it with you.
3. Convenient Date Range Calculator
Need to find out how many days are between two dates? It’s now easier than ever. Just press ‘M’ on the first date, then press ‘M’ again on the second date, and Hariku will calculate the difference for you. This handy tool helps you plan ahead with confidence.
Additionally, this version includes a full help window accessible via Shift + H, listing all keyboard shortcuts with explanations to help you navigate Hariku more efficiently. The new Settings window (press S) lets you customize your experience, while a fresh key shortcut 'V' allows you to get the latest news from the development team.
We’ve also improved how multiple historical entries on the same date are displayed; if there’s more than one, Hariku will now prompt you to choose which one to read.
We continue to refine the app by removing outdated shortcuts and fixing bugs, including an issue where multiple events didn’t show up properly in the info panel.
Thank you for being part of the Hariku. Your ideas and support help us grow and improve every day. Keep sharing your thoughts, and stay tuned for more updates!

Hariku Beta 1.0.0-Beta.4 – More Personal, More Practical

Posted by AraPearl 🦋 on June 5, 2025

Hi there!
In this Beta.4 update, Hariku becomes even more alive and personal. We’ve introduced new shortcuts to help you navigate and interact more smoothly.
You can now adjust the volume directly using F5 and F6, or personalize your experience by setting your username with Shift+Z.
New keybindings let you add and manage tasks (A / Shift+A), and also write and view diary entries (n / Shift+N).
The diary feature was carefully designed and built by AraPearl (me) to feel like a real book. It features a tree view with year, month, and day, creating a nostalgic and pleasant journaling experience.
You’ll also hear unique sound effects, like the sound of turning pages when expanding or collapsing entries, and Writing sounds to enhance immersion.
Notes are stored locally and encrypted safely on your device. When writing, pressing Enter will add your entry; complete with the exact hour, minute, and second it was written.
We’ve also made the app more emotionally engaging: when you add tasks, Hariku may remind you at random moments using over 100 messages. Including sweet, warm, and motivational tones, making the experience more human and encouraging.
Navigation sounds are now more varied too, making every interaction feel more responsive.
Lastly, we’ve fixed the "Submit Feedback" button that went silent in the last version, and polished up the Indonesian translations for a better overall experience.
This might be a small update, but it brings a lot of heart. Try it out and feel the difference!

Hariku – Beta Version 1.0.0-Beta.3 Update unselected

Posted by AraPearl 🦋 on June 4, 2025

Hi again!
This is a small but meaningful update — Hariku now shows the time based on the selected country's timezone! Cheers!
We’ve added a couple more countries, and fixed the updater so it can properly detect the update size (no more guessing!).
A light update, but one that makes the experience smoother. More improvements coming soon!

Hariku – Beta Version 1.0.0-Beta.2 Update

Posted by AraPearl 🦋 on June 3, 2025

Hi there!
We’re back with another beta update for Hariku! We’ve added some cool new features and fixed a few hiccups from the previous release. Let’s see what’s new:
Now you can check out historical events for specific dates, just press I to unlock some time travel moments!
We added an “All Event” filter type to make sure you don’t miss anything on your calendar. (Shoutout to AraPearl for this one!) ps: it's myself!
Fixed the pesky bug where changing the language was like talking to a wall, now it actually works.
Fixed the issue where changing the country was about as useful as a compass in a desert.
Oh, and we squashed a typo that was silencing our sounds when you applied filters. No more quiet moments, your clicks will sound just right now!
We’re still in beta, so expect more improvements soon. Thanks for trying out Hariku and keep the feedback coming, it really helps us get better.
